Sierra's Story

Oregon Bull Elk

Sierra took this beautiful bull last weekend! Her dad was kind enough to write us her story.... From the day Sierra was born, she had sass and determination. At the age of 3, she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis. She has always loved the outdoors, including camping, hiking, hunting and fishing. Her competitive nature drives her to be the best she can be, whether it’s being a straight A student or shooting a bigger bull than her dad.
A year in a half ago, Sierra was watching a story about a girl with CF who went on a successful elk hunt. She told me that she wished she could do that. At the end of the video, they said that this hunt was made possible by COCO and put up Bryan’s contact information. We sent out an email the same day and the wheels started turning. From the first contact we had with Bryan, was nothing short of amazing.
Bryan and Tyler set out to make this hunt all about Sierra. They put together a plan that would allow Sierra the highest chance at success while tending to her medical needs. The passion these gentleman have for making these memories for these kids is something you will hardly ever see. You literally felt like family and could feel the love that drives them to make these experiences wonderful.
We had the blessing to hunt a new piece of property with some of the most genuine land owners you will ever meet. What made this hunt so special was the fact that it took a team effort, and everyone had a part in helping Sierra be successful. From Bryan shouting out yardages, Tyler setting the sight and coaching Sierra through her shot, to Sierra making the perfect shot at 280 yards with minutes left of shooting light. The excitement between everyone was unbelievable and the smile and tears that came from Sierra were the whole reason we were there.
We want to thank Bryan and Tyler for making this such a dream hunt and experience. We want to thank Brooke (who was missed dearly on this hunt) for outfitting Sierra in some awesome camouflage. We also want to thank Sig Sauer for the binoculars donated and given to Sierra. Also a special thanks to the landowners for opening up their home and property to allow us to have this special hunt!
